48in. nitro reproved (imperial) damascus barrel with faceted breech-end, engraved 'JAMES MACNAUGHTON. 26 HANOVER STREET. EDINBURGH.', 4in. chamber, action incorporating patent no. 2848 of 12 July 1879, use no. 16, signed 'THE EDINBURGH' on both sides and 'MACNAUGHTON PATENT. NO 16/759' on the breech section, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and finish, 14in. figured stock including rubber recoil pad, weight 16lb. 6oz.
